How To Carry Out Daily Maintenance Of Rubber Fenders

Repairs to the rubber fenders on the docks require different degrees of production stoppages. The fast-paced loading and unloading terminals do not allow long-term shutdowns for repairs. To properly resolve this contradiction, we can start with the following three aspects:

1. Seize the gap between the barge and the berth and the timing of the ebb and flow of the tide, and carry out repairs at every point. This method is suitable for small-scale, low-volume maintenance tasks. Generally, the construction is carried out by the maintenance team of the loading and unloading company, which is not limited by the outsourcing contract period, does not affect production, and can flexibly master the construction in batches and blocks. From the perspective of economic benefits, the cost savings of comparable outsourcing is 1 to 2 times. For example, for the installation of M (DA) fenders at the second berth of Nanzhan Wharf, the company's maintenance team cooperates with the accessories workshop to process and arrange the installation on the shore. The spare parts and brackets are then installed in batches according to the gap time of the front production.

2. For maintenance tasks with relatively large workloads, complex construction,  and long period, such as the production and installation of steel-plastic fenders at the Laobaidu berth, it is generally appropriate to outsource. Because the production and installation processes of this kind of project are used together, it takes a long time to vacate the docking berth. Using this method, the company's planning and production scheduling department must go through careful research and arrangements, according to the company's various terminals of production capacity and production tasks, overall coordination and balance, and partial scheduled shutdowns.

3. Strengthen inspection and maintenance
The most basic measure of maintenance work is to pay attention to the usual inspection and maintenance. The implementation of this work is very important to reduce maintenance. Each terminal of the company should set up a special person responsibility system to strengthen the inspection and maintenance of the rubber fenders in the responsible area, so that some minor faults of the fenders can be found in time, such as loosening and falling off of fastening screws, damage to bracket parts, etc., and repair them immediately. Stops the development of rubber fender and bollard damage. Small holes are not repaired, large holes suffer, and a large number of fenders have been damaged and fallen off in the past, which is closely related to the lack of timely inspection and maintenance. With the continuous advancement of the professional technology of terminal rubber fenders, there will be more suitable fenders for fast-paced loading and unloading production terminals in the terminal rubber fender market. Therefore, the problem of selection will continue. Similarly, with regard to maintenance issues, with the change of the type of dock fenders used and the change of the management system of the enterprise, different maintenance, and management methods must be adopted in response to the situation, and the maintenance quality and level of the dock rubber fenders must be continuously improved.

Vulcanization process of rubber fenders

A. Rubber fenders are mainly made of a mixture of natural rubber and synthetic rubber through vulcanization.

B. Additives such as carbon black and anti-aging agent are added to the rubber compound to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of the rubber fender and its resistance to seawater corrosion, anti-aging, and ozone resistance.

C. The sizing material is uniform and free of impurities (foreign impurities), bubbles, dark wounds, cracks, and other defects that hinder the quality of the product.
